Climate Event – Building Community & Solutions for a Sustainable Future

Planet Pact in Mumbai: Building Community and Solutions for a Sustainable Future

In October 2024, Mumbai witnessed a remarkable convergence of minds as sustainability professionals, climate enthusiasts, and change-makers gathered at the vibrant Cogent Studio for the latest edition of Climate Talks. The event, powered by Social Footprint, created a space where passion met purpose, and conversations transformed into potential collaborations.

A Meeting of Minds and Solutions

The energy in the room was palpable from the moment guests began arriving. During the networking session, snippets of conversations revealed the diversity of expertise present: “I was doing XYZ at Climes, what are you doing at Smart Joules?” “Biochar is certainly an effective way to mitigate effects of climate change.” “We have developed a tool to measure Scope 3 emissions.” These exchanges highlighted the breadth of climate solutions being developed across sectors and specialties.

What made this gathering truly special was the blend of practical solutions with genuine community building. It wasn’t just about presenting ideas—it was about connecting individuals who are actively driving meaningful change in their respective fields.

Hope in Action

Perhaps the most inspiring takeaway from the event was the overwhelming sense of hope. As one attendee noted, “There is so much climate action happening, with several folks tackling, addressing, and solving it. There is a lot of hope and scope.”

In a time when climate news can often feel overwhelming, Climate Talks provided a refreshing reminder that countless individuals and organizations are working tirelessly on solutions—from carbon measurement tools to innovative mitigation technologies and policy frameworks.

Building Community for Long-term Impact

Harshvardhan Sharma, Founder, Social Footprint and Planet Pact, anchored the event, guiding discussions with thought-provoking questions while ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. The gathering demonstrated that bringing people together has “amazing benefits and energy” that transcend individual efforts.

All the speakers’ talks were recorded and shared on social media later. This allowed valuable insights shared to reach an even wider audience of climate-conscious individuals and organizations.

Looking Forward

This Climate Talks event marks just the beginning of an ongoing community-building effort. Special thanks to Karunya and Mubina for providing the space at Cogent Studios, Lower Parel, Mumbai which served as the perfect backdrop for this dynamic gathering of minds.
